Still working on my first batch and I'm wondering if it's safe to open my bucket to add a nutrient or if I even need to? I'm working with a one gallon and I've got one week from today until primary is complete (or so I've been told)

What are you concerned about? Do you have a hydrometer? If you dont open the bucket how are you going to know if everything is going good or bad? Are you stirring it up to keep the yeast moving around? Its not the best way to ferment by a calendar, if you have a hydrometer then you can measure the progress of each step and using science tell when its ready to be moved instead of guessing from what other people who might be clueless are telling you:) Dont forget this is FUN stuff you are doing here. How about share what you have done so far with this batch. WVMJ

What nutrient do you want to add?

What was your recipe?

How long has it been fermenting?

All I have is a fermentation bucket, 1 gallon glass carboy, and a siphon. It's been going for one week and the recipe was 25.5 ounces of honey and nearly one gallon of water. Also a wine yeast
