Yes

In other news, when people are reporting in on "new batch" classic and saying the bottles are good or bad can we get clarification on whether the labels are "surlie" or new updated "saison" label?

I have had zero issues with shelf sourced regular saison or Hiver. No smoke, ropiness, or carb issues.

The one I reported on a few posts back was the new updated "Saison" label.

Had a Black/White that I just purchased from West Lakeview a couple of weeks ago that I hadn't seen before so I'm assuming it's relatively fresh.

I got a lot of black pepper in the nose and taste. A bit grassy as well. Not much funk. Not my favorite 'Tome, but I didn't detect any smoke, plastic or bandaids so I considered it a win.

Are these actually different beers? Or just the US label verse the EU label? We rarely get Fantome out here, so no idea if both saison and surlie are sold in the states.

**** if I know. There are days I believe I know more about Tomes than the average person...then Dany flips the switch and I seemingly know nothing.

Before the "new" label existed we got surlie labelings. I dont know if that is the case anymore. I thought online web shops were selling both but I could be mistaken. What I do know is that Shelton is slowly trying to make their logo bigger than the ghost on the label for all imports.

Adding a vote for new batch of saison being great. Great carb, bright and zesty the whole way through.

"Saison" for me.

I guess even if they were the same they would be a different batch and... well... not the same. Also all the surlie seem to have the same date code lately, so no way to tell those apart. Seems he changed up his corks pretty recently though.

Just bought one from WLV as well. It was on their 'New Arrivals' table, so I think its safe to assume it is a newer batch.

its probably been 4-5 years since i last drank a dark white...perhaps its time to revist...or leave the cellar dwellers be and buy a new bottle for science

i cant help but laugh at how crazy the new ete's bottle variation is. all of mine (save for 2 i have set aside) have come from the same source/batch and no 2 experiences have been the same

All the été talk got me to open one.

I think it's got a sparkle in it's eye that may one day become carbonation. I hope so, because I would love this if it was bubbly and not sort of like drinking coke syrup. Really reminds me of BBBoo minus the pumpkin?
