Anyone had the new vintage of Ete yet? Heard it was flat, but have since seen carbed pics of it. Cant wait to get my bottles!
Also interested in hearing about the newest batch!

Drank one last night. Not totally flat but close. Slightly underattenuated as well. Taste is fine especially after it warned, I enjoyed it, but it's not ready yet. Give bottles time. Hopefully they will carb up the rest of the way and develop some more funk (it's tart for sure but not super funky yet).
The one I had last night was next to perfect. New batch. Pretty much encompassed all i love about belgian beer. tasted a bit like a flanders red mixed with a saison. mild spice. nutty malt. tart and light bodied. just a hint of funk. Carb was fine. Will buy every bottle in the store.

check in here for the new batch. mine was totally flat
Apparently that classic fantome bottle variation is still alive and well.Opened a bottle with a few others on Wednesday. It was reasonably carbonated and delicious!

This is goooood.
what is the base?I liked the base but the truffles gave me weird feels
Same bottles shelfing it up here for $17-$19 per and I have to talk myself out of buying 1 everytime I see it.Found bottles of last year's Noel on clearance at a Woodmans for $6.99 a few weeks back. Having a hard time controlling my curiosity and waiting to drink it during the holidays....
I mean just the "beer" partwhat is the base?

As you can see, carbonation-wise this is slowly getting swole. Visually the carb is getting there but not quite to the levels tomes typically have. Fizzy feels aside this is a tasty treat. Not the Ete im use to from past batches but its not like comparison to prior batches holds any meaning anyway. Its got a bready to biscuit grain character from start to finish with a pronounced tartness that is distinctly fruity/citrus-like yet unidentifiable. Very mild funk, earth and mineral finish to this.
Its already been said but Fantome is most certainly "back." Of the recent releases ive tried, I would totally burn all my extra money on: Blanche, Tous les Djapes and then this Ete or Sante 18. (In that order.)
The newest batch is indeed significantly darker than the last. Here is my pic from the same barch you posted (as a reference using the same camera and lighting)Is that a filter, or is that batch that much darker? It seems like the original batch was way lighter:

There appears to be both an amber and "orange" version of ete. The bottle of 1996 ete I drank with 1v1willwreku was just as dark as this new batch.

However, I also drank a '93 and '94 that were much lighter and golden orange colored.
If im not mistaken... Dunt dontdrinkbeer tectactoe KWMiles all drank the '06ish yellow label and it too was darker amber like this batch
Edit: ok technically not the same lighting because my flash was on today... but you get the drift. Also, i just put the old orange label beside the new one and they are close but not the same color. The new one has a best by 2017 date on the side, extra wording across the top and the orange color is darker almost reddish orange while then old is blaze hunter orange.

Shut up: I'm trading a quadilonario for an Automne next week.shared a 2006 w Dunt ForgetFu and some other degenerates and it looked like a Biere De Garde, much darker than the 2004 or 2005 that I previously had, taste also strayed from the orange/citrus into a cherry extravaganza.
still banging. Can we shut this thread down so people keep trading for Pirate Bomb and stop ******* up the ghost supply.
what is the base?
Mostly Chateau Pilsner, plus one bag of Chateau Carapils and one bag ~50lbs of cane sugar. Goldings hops, but only during the last 10 mins of boiling.
You better simmer down. Thats the most insight we have ever seen into a ghost recipe!
I could tell you every detail of a brew day at Fantôme...
