Im a new comer to the brewing word. I started a 5 gal batch of irish stout. My og was 1.052.. I was wondering if this is normal? Everywhere iv read said that they should be 1.040 to 1.48. Just curious if I screwed something up!

Hello. I'm a relative newcomer too so perhaps others with more experience can weigh in but I also did an Irish stout recently and I think my OG was 1.049 when it was supposed to be around 1.044. The final gravity came out a tad high too and I don't understand why but it tastes great so I'm not too worried. I'd say you're probably OK.

What was your FG? Curious to see in a week or so if I'm close.

I also did a rye pale ale recently and the OG was 1.052 and FG 1.023. Which means ABV was a tad low but I still think it came out really good.

Perfect thank you, I'm curious to see how it ends up here in a week when I pull the FG. I will keep you posted
