hi all, i am new too brewing and have alot to learn...... i am working on filling out the profile... i will be doing the primary fermentation in the bucket then the glass carboy... so my question is when do i actually take the abv and how long should i age the ipa in the carboy...thanks:fro:

You're really not 'taking the ABV'. You'll take gravity readings pre and post fermentation which are then used to estimate the alcohol in the beer.

I like to ferment my IPAs in primary about 10 days (or until the gravity is steady). And then transfer to another carboy for dry hopping (5-15 days depending on what I'm doing). From there I keg, force carb (set and forget), and drink it up.
