I am a pretty novice brewer but have brewed a few times before. This time I was brewing an extract IPA and was topping off the fermenter with spring water. I didn't have enough to top off to 5 gallons so I used a half gallon from an old spring water bottle that had been opened for a while. It's now fermenting but the krausen is greenish brown not that foamy white I'd seen in previous batches. It had a lot of late addition/ flame out hops so is it just those particles or should I worry about it being infected?

I don't know that I've ever seen that much hop matter in a non dry-hopped wort/beer, but that's sure what it looks like. I take it you didn't whirlpool or strain the wort to avoid transferring trub to the fermenter?

Are you guys seeing something I am not? It just looks like Krausen to me. What yeast did you use?

Edit: I see the green now. That looks totally fine to me.

+1. Looks fine to me also. Probably some hop matter which was transferred from the kettle

OP said there were a lot of late addition/flameout hops so if they just dump the whole thing in the fermeter, you may get a lot of hop junk.

Super cloudy but overall looks normal to me. I had many beers that looked like milk and then completely cleared after two weeks.
