Hey,

I know it's not going to be the best wine ever, but I got a 7 day wine kit as a present, the instructions are very basic, it comes with Nutrient, Yeast, Concentrate, and fining agents and stabliser..

I added some pectalose , this will be ok wont it?

If I left it in primary for 10-12 days, without adding the stabilizer, would there still be gas being given off to protect the wine (22 litres in a 5 gallon fermenter)

Does anyone else have any other things, additions or anything that would make this basic of basic kits better

Thanks

Pretty much the best thing you can do to improve it is just let it age longer before drinking and consuming it. While it's in primary you won't have to worry about oxidation, the air space is filled with CO2. The longer the better.

I like some zante currants quick run through food processor and thrown in. Adds a bit of sugar and tannin for a little more body. If you've got kits you know well, can start looking into tweaking them even more specifically with doses of acid blend, tannin, etc, but have to know the kit well, sample, test, get it just right. Grapes are easy. :) And the Zante currants are better for it than the regular raisins (which are just thompson seedless grapes)

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately I had already made the batch so I couldnt reduce it to 4 1/2 gallon batch, I'll tell my family when they get me wine kits for presents, cheap is not good, you can get a much better quality one for a little more money, and you don't have to add sugar either
