Guys,

I finally made it to Massachussetts. I already arrived here last Saturday, but had to wait until the internet connection at the temporary housing was set-up to surf the web more extensively.

Today was my first day at work and I will now have to do actual work while I'm there :drunk: . So much for extensive decoction and protein rest discussions during the day.

Most of my brewing stuff went to storage and I'm already regretting this. I wish I would have shipped at least a basic kit and the turkey fryer to temporary housing to get started with brewing again. Maybe I can borrow the stuff from co-workers.

Does anyone know of good home-brew shops in northern Middlesex county?

I shied away from homebrew for years because of the locals....I would rather see this site make links or see a section open up on the best ways to purchase online....in the most competitive prices…For both hardware and consumables…

I don't mean to be discouraging but Michigan Sucks in every way shape and form, and I can’t imagine that I’m the only state on this list…

I can understand the argument that it’s more about the quality then the quantity but you’re not able to squeeze out a basic brew that cost more then your average Heineken, then I have a problem with that.

I can see the extra cost if you’re using some special hopps or mash…that’s a different story….Once extras are added that’s different, I’m just talking some water, extract, hopps, yeast and some corn sugar…

So I whish you the best of luck…

That's okay...hbt is now banned at my office (probably because of me) so we'll have to engage the Brewpastor in the evenings. Glad you made it and are semi-settled.

I've decided to put in overtime here on HBT since the two of you can't post during the day.

Welcome back, Kai.

Welcome back!

Are you in military housing? Check the rules...I don't think you're allowed to brew anything in Gov't Quarters.
You aren't allowed to brew anything that they know about. :D

Welcome up north Kaiser. I had to look up where Boxborough, MA is but you are pretty close to West Boylston Ma. It's on Rte 12. The guy who owns the HBS here also has one there. It's called, oddly enough West Boylston Homebrew Emporium. I don't know how that shop is but he's a pretty nice guy. He also has one in Cambridge Ma but I don't know how far that is from you.

Does the same guy also own Hennesey Home Brew, outside of Troy, NY? All three stores are on the same website, beerbrew.com, making it look like there's some connection.

Yeah he does bird. I've talked to him and he says he goes out to the Cambridge store for a couple of days at a time. Not sure about Boylston though. As I said he's a nice guy, prices are a little high when compared to online but I would figure that's the case anywhere.

Yeah, I liked Hennessy when I went out there a few weeks ago. The guy who was helping me, not sure if it was the owner or not, seemed like a real good guy. Prices did strike me as being a bit high (my 5 gallon carboy was like $25), but I'll pay a little bit extra for some good advice and to help keep a local guy in biz.

BTW, I just ordered 12# of undermodified Pilsener malt. What to do, what to do...

Decoct it, decoct it, decoct it.

Where did you order it from. Do you have any analysis data for this malt?

Austin Homebrew...no data yet, but they also sell the Weyermann Bohemian Pilsner malt, so I wonder if it's related. I had meant to call today and see if they had data sheets but got busy at work. I'm thinking either a Pilsner or another wheat.

BTW, the Oktoberfest is bubbling away in the fridge.
