k so i work at a golf course and i stole one of the mini kegs...they said i could have it if no one saw me take it so didnt really steal it. anyways its a mini keg not a full one and i have 5 gallons of brown ale brewing just curious how do i keg my beer? i might now do it now because i dont have a kegerator yet but just curious. im gonna look around and see what info i can find on here but if someone wanted to give me the low down that would be awsomo.

Well, start with all the stickied posts on kegging.

You need CO2, racking equipment, regulator, a tap, and a way to keep it cold.

also, stealing is illegal. it sounds like you didn't have the keg owner's permission to take it.

oh geez your starting to sound like my mom! the beverage manager said i could have it.

its the same height as a norma keg just alot skinnier. i had beer in it not soda.

Watch out for those admissions of guilt, it could wind up biting you in the rear. We do not condone stealing or anything illegal, etc, etc, legal disclamer, etc, etc.

So... you "acquired" a new keg. First you should find out what kind of keg it is, then, afterwards look at the details. You can always show a picture of your keg to us if you don't know. Or look up kegs on wikis and find out what kind of keg it is. Beyond that, there's plenty about how to use a keg, what hardware you may need.

geez...as i said before the manager of the food department told me i could have it, wither it was legal or illegal of her to do so not really to worried about it. i didnt steal it, she told me to take it.

i cant find any pictures online of the one i have. it is literally the same as a normal keg, just alot skinnier. same height as a normal keg but the size of a scuba tank. has a ball at the top where the beer comes out

Does the fitting on top of the keg look like this? If so it's a sankey keg. Most of us use cornelius kegs, which have entirely different fittings. I've no idea how one would fill a sankey keg at home.

yah i was just talkin to my roomate about taht i dont think i can even use it, ill just put it back and buy a real one.

Sankey kegs are great for serving homebrew. It does require you to have a kegorator or other beer serving device with a co2 tank. You need to SAFELY release the pressure, take the spear out (plenty of tutorials and youtube vids for how to do that), clean and sanitize the keg like you would a carboy, rack your homebrew into it, then attach a sankey coupler for carbing and serving.
