I've spent some great nights at the Toronado over the years. A must stop when visiting San Francisco. They don't have a kitchen but you can go next door to Rosamunde Sausage Grill, order a sausage and bring it back to the bar with you. Nothin' better after a night of drinking. Last time I was there was late September this year and we shared the last bottle of Pizza Port's Cuvee de Tomme. They almost always have Pliny the Elder on tap and since you're already in the neighborhood, head to upper Haight to the Magnolia Brewpub.

I hate going to The City but I'll have to make a trip!

SWMBO dragged me up there a couple weeks ago and we stopped at the Beach Chalet. Not very impressive beer, but the food was good. Their V.F.W. Domestic-style beer tasted like eating an ear of corn.
