G'day everyone... I just got a home brew kit yesterday after following some pretty vague instructions i made a few scewups

well this one is a little bit embarrasing but i attached the airlock to the inside of the lid and after about 12 hours it started bubbling and everthing was sweet, but this morning when i got up the brew had come up through the airlock and was all over the lid.. so after reading a few things on the net i decided to take the lid off (it was off for about a min) and clean it up, sanatized it and then put it back on properly.

What should i do now? have i exposed the brew for too long? and should i throw it out and start over?

anyway 2nd batch should be great! thanks for any help you can give me

relax. as long a you were clean when you removed the lid and straightened everything up, your beer will be fine. It is protected by a blanket of heavy CO2 (and in your case, perhaps a layer of foam, too?) so little germies would have a tough time getting in there, working their way down to the beer, and overthrowing the raging yeast mob.

Your beer will be fine.

RDWHAHB!
(relax, don't worrry, have a home brew)

I had the same thing happen on my 2nd batch, and was worried to. It now happens to all my brews, so I use a blow off tub for the first 24 hours or so. After that I use the airlock. If it happens again, just pull the airlock off, get it cleaned and sanitized, and put it back in...no worries.

You could use a little waxing yourself Sasquatch... Although, since nobody but some Peterson(sp?) guy has ever really 'seen' you, I guess you won't offend anyone.
