I tried scrubbing it off with warm water and it kinda work should I soak the bottles again?

Where do you place your probe?

How long did you soak them for? Are you using a bottle brush? Is the residue only outside or inside as well?

Yeah using a bottle brush and it's only on the inside. i probably didn't need to soak all of them, but I was being too lazy to inspect them one by one. looks like I just created more work for me. I soaked them for about 2 hours.

I have had this happen to various pieces of equipment from time to time. You can soak them in a solution of distilled white vinegar and water and it will remove it.

I don't have any vinegar at home will this affect my beer? Can I just sanitize and bottle?

You probably have hard water. It's a calcium residue. No scrubbing is going to get that off without an acid to help. White vinegar or CLR solution.

You can pick up like a gallon of vinegar for $1 at the grocery store. I would recommend not potentially screwing up a batch over a buck and you only have to soak them so minimal effort is involved.

Yes, it will likely affect the flavor of your beer.

Curious tho could it be that I just didn't rinse well enough because I've never gotten anything like that on any of my dishes and my water tastes pretty damn awesome

Yeah I may as well just do that better safe than sorry

Okay I gave it another shot with just warm water and some extra elbow grease and the residue came off after hitting it with the bottle brush am I good to go or would y'all still recommend the vinegar soak?

So the thing with PBW is the rinse water has to be as hot or hotter than the temp used for the PBW soak otherwise you will likely get the residue (and I swear sometimes you just get it). I have started just soaking stuff in cold PBW mixture (tap temp) and leaving it for a day or more then rinsing with warm water and that often avoids the problem.

I'm going to start doing exactly that to avoid problems like this but I'm just glad the bottling is done and over with :D
