Here's something interesting. I was visiting my local fish shop to pick up stuff for my aquarium and found this specific gravity measure. Turns out it's for measuring salinity in salt water aquariums.

Wonder if it's be more or less accurate than your standard hydrometer

I have one of those and use it for my saltwater tank. Aside from the bubbles that form under the arm that cause it to read higher than it is once you tap it a few times to get them off I find it reads exactly the same as my traditional hydrometer. I have never tried it for beer tho.
