I just finished my first batch of Kombucha and started another. I bought the SCOBY off Amazon, followed the recipe, and 9 days later I have a gallon of Kombucha with a new baby that's bigger than the mother. So I am making another batch not really paying attention to the recipe as well and forgot my tea was supposed to be room temp. I let it cool ti I could touch the sides of the jar with my bare hands before I added the SCOBY, but I'm nervous. Do you think I damaged or killed it?

Depends on how warm we're talking. Slightly about room temps? Body heat temp? Just cool enough that you could stand to touch the jar?

I guess just let it ride and see what happens.

For future reference, you can grow your own scoby from a commercial bottle of kombucha for cheaper than buying one. Just dump a bottle of unflavored/unpasteurized store-bought kombucha into a batch of sweet tea and let it sit a couple weeks.
