Hello:

I am thinking of going to kegging, since I now do 10 gallon partial boils...

With bottles - I can always tell if I am about to (horrors!) run out of brew...

How can you tell with the keg ?? Pick it up ? Pressure ?

Yep...just give it a lift.

The other thing is that my last 5-6 beers will be the clearest of the bunch. Kind of a wierd way to determine you're about to run out...but it seems consistent.

You could weigh an empty keg on a bathroom scale. Then when you weigh your keg of beer, subtract the weight of the empty to come up with "pounds of beer".....not sure how many liquid oz of beer is in a pound, but a pint of water is a pound, so that should get you close.

When it blows. That's why you have to have multiple taps and reserve kegs in the conditioning cabinet.

I rock my kegs to check the weight whenever I change out the soda water, but that doesn't work on the ones strapped in the corners.

That is funny for I see the same. I also notice that the last few pints taste the best.

also, run your hand down the side slowly. you can feel the cold liquid line.

If it's a beer you like the keg empties fast. If you don't care for it so much it will flow for ever. Even when the keg feels light beer keeps coming out! :mug:
