Hey all.

I've been running mostly ales on my system but I decided to try a half batch of Irish Stout as I really enjoy Guiness.

I'm running a C02 system and dont plan on changing that. Any tips on how to best pour this batch of stout?

I've got it set around 10psi currently at about 38 degrees. I also have a Perlik tap with flow control. It does give a reasonable head but it could last longer. Taste is good.

So its decent now but any suggestions I could try to improve the pour would be appreciated.

38°F and 10 psi equalizes at just under 2.4 volumes, which is a tad on the high end of the typical carbonation level for stouts dispensed with straight CO2 (1.7-2.3). I wouldn't necessary change that, if it has suitable CO2 bite to the end of the glass and if you like the result you should stick with it.

As for the head, if a fresh pour has a nicely sized head but it dissipates sooner than you'd expect that may have more to do with the style and recipe than the dispensing. Otoh, if the head seems insufficient, try finishing the pour with a cracked faucet - the poor mans sparkler :)

Cheers!
