I have a seriously stuck beer so I made a big starter to try and get it going again. My yeast in the primary has not dropped the gravity for a couple of weeks so I want to transfer it to a carboy along with this starter.

What's the best way to get a 1 gallon starter into a carboy? Siphoning or pouring through a funnel? Or would I be better off getting the stuck beer and starter into another large vessel like my primary? I still have quite a bit of fermentation to go. My batch is 5 gallons and so is my carboy.

Cold crash your starter to settle the yeast.
Make a half liter starter. Cool to room temperature. Pour the wort off your first starter and add the half liter starter wort.
Use the shake and swirl method. At high krausen pour into the 5 gallon carboy and rack the room temperature beer onto the yeast.

Rig up a blow off tube in case you get a very active fermentation going.

Pitching an active starter may negate some of the stress on the yeast going into an alcohol environment.
