I'm gathering everything together for my e-brewery and find myself asking whether a chugger with polysulfone head really is that fragile...

I know I'll have to put a ball valve on the output but it doesn't have to be connected to the physical pump itself, I can always put them on the side of the HLT/MLT/Boil kettles so that there's minimal lateral stress on the actual pump head which should allow for not actually needing a stainless head BUT this means more ball-valves than putting on output of the pump itself = just go straight stainless head

OR

is the plastic head going to be capable of handling the lateral stresses of on/off of ball valve movement without cracking?
