How stable is the beer in the keg lines?

I've always wondered if the beer that sits in the tap lines is a source of infection for the keg. I suppose it shouldn't get back into the keg but couldn't it make for a bad tasting 1st pint or so after it sitting in there for a couple days?

it should be a closed system so it should matter. I store my lines with starsan in them when i dont have a keg hooked up, and then every time i connect and disconnect i spray down the disconnects and the gas in/ liq out with starsan to keep them clean. I usually toss the first 2 oz of beer that come out to flush the lines just because it tends to not taste as well since it sits there sometimes for a prolonged time

same, i toss the first couple ounces if its been a few days. you'll find the CO2 will come out of solution giving you less carb'd beer in the tap lines.

at least mine does.
