Some may have ready in the hopdirect thread, but I had a "hookup" with a hop farmer in the Yakima valley and I currently have 9 gallon zip lock bags of whole leaf hops on their way to me.

They just grabbed some from the crops they were still picking and I guess they are done now. Anyways, I am not sure what to expect as they are not vacuum packed, I was told they were in the freezer though. I think I will be getting simcoe, zeus, magnum, chinoook, cascade, authanum, willamette and who knows what else.

Anyways, I was trying to figure out a way to repay these nice people for doing this for me. I know I could send homebrew, I also do photography and was thinking about a framed picture of something nice too. Any other ideas?

homebrew is a definite. More than a 6 pack, actually. I'd send them a 6er from every brew I used their hops for.

A pic would be nice, but do you know their taste in art?

That was a favor, you are not trying to pay them back; Just showing them you appreciate it. Even a thank you card done in crayon should be OK: BEER would be better.

How about offering some photography for their website. So while you help them out for free in appreciation for your free hops you also help yourself out with *photography by HB - free advertising for you on their site.

So I just got the hops and so much for being worried about their freshness, I opened the stirafoam case they put them in and once the lid came off it was like getting hit in the face with hop aroma.

So what I got, all 1 gallon zip lock bags of:

Zues
citra
millenium
nugget
summit
galena
cascade
willamette

I am excited to say the least.:mug:

Whatever you do for the hop farmers, when you're done you need to punch yourself in the junk for the rest of us. :D Lucky bastid

What about sending over a catered lunch to the workers? Not sure how remote the farm is located so it may not be a feasible option. A platter of Subway sandwiches isn't that expensive and everyone eats, not everyone drinks and sometimes the farmhands are kids.

Well, I have about $50 worth of hops here so I don't think I would go over that to repay them. I will call them and see if I can get some ideas.

In the meantime, the box is sitting by me here and I get to smell hops all day mm....

Dear farmer dude;
Please accept these donuts as a token of my appreciation for your gift to me.
Sincerely,
H(I overthink things too much)B

Donuts for everybody!!!!!
