Hello everyone,

I am currently fermenting my first mead with Mangrove Jack's mead yeast. It has been bubbling for about three weeks now, is this normal? I know that as long as there are bubbles it is still fermenting. Is this typical with this strain of yeast?

Thanks!

Just so you know, bubbles are not a reliable method of telling whether a ferment is done or not. Sometimes, late in primary, bubbles are just degassing, meaning the CO2 that is left in your must is still trying to push it's way out.

What does your hydrometer say?
Trust your hydrometer readings. Gravity readings are a much more reliable form of seeing where your ferment lies.
Once your gravity has stopped going down, (typically when you take 3 consistent readings over the course of @ least a week), is when I normally rack. Some people rack sooner, some later. I prefer to let most of the sediment drop out while still in primary, but that's just me.

It's OK to leave it in primary for 4-5 weeks, sometimes even longer.
With mead, time is your friend.
Your mead will often drop a lot of the sediment while still in primary, if you're patient enough.
Patients, grasshopper 🙏😁

I hope this helps you.
Happy meading 😎
