How many people lost their keezer to covid?

Really? We are still stocked with eggs, cheese and butter here in Ontario, Canada, but toilet paper is still scarce.

Yeah, it's nuts here where I'm at (10 min south of Wisconsin border). The Jewel by me finally started limiting what people were buying but not soon enough. When we went last weekend, eggs were completely gone. Not a single container. Turkey was all gone, cheese was very limited and so was butter.

Of course, the paper products were all gone as well. Soup was low and most canned goods. Surprisingly, beer was actually pretty picked through as well!

We aren't panic buying but we did stock up on probably 2-3 weeks worth of stuff just to limit how much we're going out, as someone else earlier said.

I will say, I did lose my fermentation chamber to the extra supplies (which actually wasn't much, maybe 2 grocery bags full), but out of this whole thing, I gained...
1 Icemaster Max 4 glycol chiller w/ glycol
1 1/2 BBL SSBT Unitank w/ heating
And 4 brand spankin new kegs!

Thanks covid-19! LOL

I often buy in bulk, and when there are sale prices, so I usually have plenty of most things, so I didn't stock-up on anything in particular. About 2 weeks ago I selfishly took the last 2 packs of toilet rolls in my local supermarket (just 6-packs, not the large packs) because I was not sure when I would be able to get any more. I've not seen any in the stores since then; if they are getting more, they are going quick. I haven't seen a chicken for a couple of week either.

Stores seem to be getting most things back (except TP, chicken, and pasta). Not too many people in the stores now, and all seem to be keeping their distance.

Hope we all get through this safely.

Seems most stores are putting a 2 item limit on.. any item..
I got stopped by a Walmart employee when trying to buy the RO water I needed to brew..
I guess tap water will do in these times..

In a sense, I lost my keezer to COVID, but not to stockpile food.
Mine crapped out and it will take over a month for my new one to arrive.
Seems everyone is buying freezers.
Any ideas how to keep a keg cold other than a garbage can full of ice?

It wasn't due to COVID... My fermentation fridge had been in lagering mode because I wanted to lager my pilsner for a while (or I got lazy about kegging it). So in usual fashion, we started overflow into that freezer...

Now I'm doing something I haven't done in a decade... Fermenting without temp control. Luckily it's the right time of year for it.

I can respect the intent of stocking up to limit exposure. It is a sensitive subject to me. I am a grocery store manager and have witnessed some crazy things this past month. My qualms are with those over buying on products they dont need. I hate telling people who are out of milk, diapers, toilet paper, bread and more that we are out because some people have over burdened the supply chain. Especially those despicable people who are reselling these items for profit at the expense of others. I do see a lot of people in the store on a daily basis and I wonder what they are thinking. Some are shopping for the high risk or doing their job as grocery delivery people. Others just seem to want something to do because they are bored. I hope that is the minority. Sorry for the rant everyone. Stay safe!

Grocery store workers, healthcare workers and anyone working on the frontlines of this pandemic are my heroes.
I’m trying to buy 2 weeks worth of groceries at a time just to limit my exposure and to protect those who have to work with the public. I’ve seen some nasty behavior in grocery stores and it makes me appreciate the staff even more.

I appreciate the well wishes guys! The majority, like you both, are good people just feeding their family. Some are like the woman you witnessed with the toilet paper. In any case, I hope you all stay healthy! Homebrew always seems to cure the problems lol!

I'm not likely to lose mine. I've got a stand up type freezer that's empty, a fermenter fridge, and a beer fridge in the garage before I lose my keezer.

Actually I’d be losing money as I’d only charge for my cost of hops, grain and yeast. I wouldn’t charge for water, co2, propane etc.

Nothing in my house has changed other than the amount of time I'm spending in it. An apocalypse that puts me in Superman pajama pants and an old team-building shirt from 2002 as my daily clothing is not worth panic buying or stockpiling any more than pre-COVID times.

I go to the store weekly at off hours for items that don't last weeks and can't be stored - fruits and veggies mainly. I wouldn't think to go out for non-essential purposes, but am anxiously awaiting the time that I can again.
