Did my first BIAB today with full volume boil. I had almost no absorption but still ended up with about 5.5 gallons. Is my loss to chilling more than I thought? Using immersion chiller.

Add following to final volume
1 pint per pound grain absorption
1 gallon boil off per 60 minutes
1/4 gallon for trub/diptube loss
1/4 gallon to chiller

If i'm not :drunk: a point per pound is 0.25 gallons, right? I was using 0.19 gallons per pound and was coming out way way high on water. This time I used 0.1 Galina power pound absorption and came out pretty darn close

No. .25 Gallons is 32oz. There are 16 oz in a pint. At 0.19 gallons you were still using 24+oz per gallon.

I started with about 7.75 gallons, after the mash I still had about the same amount. I don't know. Think I'll just start lower than I think, can always sparge a bit.
