Hops in Santa Rosa, Ca

I want to grow hops this year but am confused on some of the details of growing. How much sun should I give the hops? I can plant along my back fence and the plants will get full sun all day, or I can plant on the side of the house and the plants will get 6-8 hours of sun a day. Also when should I put the plants in the ground? I think I would be ok planting in the next few weeks but I just don't know. Please let me know what you think.

you can plant rhyzomes now, they will stay dormant in the ground and push new growth when it warms in the spring.
