I'm not sure about exactly what I'm looking for here. I have a 1/2'' weldless ball valve kit on my kettle. The fitting has 1/2'' female threads on the inside of the kettle.

Is there some sort of hop screen that I can add to the inside? Basically I would like to have free-floating hops and be able to drain the wort from the ball valve into the fermenter, without having to worry about stuff getting caught in the fitting.

Hopstopper $66.95 - http://www.ihomebrewsolutions.com/TheHopStopper.html

Stainless Steel wire cloth P/N 85385T719 - $10.47
Stainless Steel lockwire P/N 8860K11 -$8.73
Shipping cost as needed

Diptube $12.99 - www.bargainfittings.com
Small hose clamp from your local auto supply

Instructions - http://wiki.wort.org/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/WadeHicks/Homemade_Hop_Filter?highlight=(Wade)

Alteration to instructions -
1) Fold over cloth for one less side to sew with lockwire.
2) Hem the edges of the cloth before sewing. Somewhat harder to thread wire through the holes of 4 layers of cloth but eliminates stray wire ends poking your fingers.
2) Use a corner to insert diptube and clamp versus creating the rectangular protusion cited in the instructions.

Have fun!
