Why did the NHL teams change from wearing white jerseys at home to the colored ones? I cannot get used to that. Seeing the Blackhawks in white on the road just isn't right.

Discuss.

The NHL used to wear dark jerseys at home, white jerseys on the road. In '70-71 they switched. A few years ago they switched back. I think the marketing folks realized that the fans wanted to see their home team in their dark (i.e. more colorful) jerseys. I admit, it takes a while to get used to.

Interesting, thanks.

I liked it when the old teams went back to their original jerseys with the lacing at the neck a few years ago but then every one had to get new jerseys with new logos. Edmonton got a cool drill bit and all we got was a flaming horse (though it is kind of cool in a four horseman of the apocalypse sort of way.)

I've got this one in my closet ('28-29 Bruins)

Could've been a LOT worse...look at the NY Islanders' FISHSTICKS jersey...

Yeah, the Gorton's Fisherman sweaters were pretty bad. What do you think of the Sabre's new logo, looks like a jumping trout.

Nice.

Remeber that one I wore after the festival? The mustard yellow Panthers jersey? I can't find that on there. Didn't realize it was a fake. :D

Jeff, wait until you cone here and see the box of jerseys that never get worn. I broke a few out after the move. I think I'll wear one today, actually. Stars, Sens, or NCAA Gophers?

I think an 8 year old Korean girl pushed the wrong button at the STARTER factory, hence your mustard colored jersey. I've got maybe 15 or so in my closet, I try to wear them in the winter when mowing the grass or just hanging out. And, of course, when attending a Hurricanes game.

Not a big fan of that one either. And what's up with their decision to place numbers on the front of their jerseys?

Which goal?

I watched this game the other night--the best goal was in the shootout. Some kid from the Wild did a spin-o-rama. What's awesome about that is Denis Savard (coach of the Blackhawks) made that move famous. Then he gets beat by it when he's a coach.

That's the goal I mean. I heard Clemente and Espo discussing it last night how technically it might be considered an illegal goal. They were saying how the same rules of the penalty shot apply to the shootout (ie, forward momentum cannot be stopped prior to shooting the puck). Clemente also mentioned how some kid from the Ducks (if you can visualize this), has a technique he's perfecting for the shootout where he skates in towards the goalie's left, dives and with the stick in his right hand, pushes the puck with his left hand to the right side and sweeps it in.

Is that legal?

Have you guys ever seen the one by a Minnesota Golden Gopher where he is behind the net and he picks up the puck onto his stick blade and stuffs it into the net behind the goalie's shoulder? SWEET.

I found it on YOUTUBE. Check this out.

While we are at it, here is the Bouchard spin-o-rama goal on youtube. (Just so you don't have to go through all those highlights)

I had to buy a few pieces of felt from the craft store, an hour of sewing, to get the number "2" on the back. Last season I was walking through the RBC Center during a Hurricanes-Bruins game, this guy yells out, "Hey, Eddie Shore, lemme buy you a beer!"

From a f*cking defenseman, no less

And a ranger who should've been left on the west coast early last month. We can't even boo him out of the garden...but then again, if we can't boo Isiah Thomas out, why should anything else be different?

And there's the Jokinen shot that they always know is coming, but it just kept working...
