Which part? Seems like they were fairly prepared for the re-sellers/rafflers. They can't necessarily shut down the muling unless it's obvious behavior (paying people in the parking lot and telling them what to fill out on their orders, etc.).

The part where tons of people showed up and bought all the beer?

I guess it's hard to know what AutumnBeerLove is referring to when he said "that" but any casual observer of beer groups/boards/discussions in the days on and following the announcement of Art for sale at 3pp cannot be surprised in the slightest.

My **** lord buddy is dying right now. He presold an Art and a GoM, below current secondary. Spent that money booking a nice hotel in Stowe. Turns out his mule that he brings to HF had an expired id. They spent the early part of the day at the DMV in Burlington, by the time they left there Art was down to 1pp and GoM was sold out. So he got 2 Art and a bunch of shelf stuff and is pissed. He has to refund the money for the GoM, and is calling the trip a waste. He got 2 Art and some amazing fills. Never go full **** lord.

I suppose I'm referring to the sheer number of people. If you've come to a bottle release since the new bottle limit policy/new order system/new filling room and so on, then you'd know that Wednesday is usually not like today was.
Today was different- everyone sent or brought their mules, and even their mules had mules...sometimes the mule's mule had a mule or two. And many others were dealing in the parking lot.
A few people decided to start showing up at 5:45 AM. We opened doors at 10 am and had a head start on the day. Maybe 25 customers there at the time? People just kept showing up early. The line moved quickly. Art was moving rapidly and the call was made to lower the limit to 1 bottle so more people would have the opportunity to buy it.
On top of that, people who came after Art was lowered to a 1 bottle limit received a drink ticket for a glass of Mary.
We had extra staff from the start helping with retail and directing traffic. We also lowered limits on Art and Farmer Wave prior to opening.
The retail shop's line moved fast and the wait was 2-10 minutes after 3 pm or so? Growler wait was maybe 30 minutes around the same time. Fun was had.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Edit: no pizza or BBQ was had. You're all lucky we were even smiling.

Whew what a day. Glad I went early and to echo others' comments that the staff did an amazing job. Parking was on point, I was able to enjoy GoM '13 (******* fantastic right now BTW) while waiting in line, and I got some Art to share with friends at home. Popped my Worthy Burger cherry on the way back and that was scrumptious, as is this batch of Mary that's helping me get to bed tonight...

Also - did anybody see the poor soul trip and fall in the tasting room? Thanks to the staff for providing my dear friend some painkillers to limit his complaining on the long ride back. No idea how he managed that, but I think he's feeling better

EDIT: Said friend also forgot his wallet.

At least he didn't stab himself simultaneously!

Not sure why, but this makes me laugh out loud every time I read it. ^^^^

I'm sorry I missed out on today's craziness. Hopefully you are still sane after today, AutumnBeerLove.
