I've tipped at HF (i.e. put money in the donation box) when getting on-site bottle or draft pours and cheese plates. I regard growler fills as part of their packaging business, it's not a bar or brewpub whose main service is pours for customers and does growler fills as a side thing.

I stuff that box every time I am there... ;)

I did too...both times I've been there since it's been a thing. ;) My comment was a bit more on the theoretical side of things. If you're a brewery whose on-site business is basically nothing but packaged beer to go, it seems strange to expect tips. And I agree with bsc that presumably such breweries can pay their employees appropriately. I'm pretty sure that's the case at HF.

And here I am ignoring my own advice about what thread to post this in...

rules and salaries aside... I tip for good service. Shaun's decision to have that go to charity instead makes it even more of a no brainer to me that I should be tipping. The staff at HF has always been top notch.

I also tip at Tree House... I can't say I'm a big fan of being called out for being a big tipper.. but that's just my personality

these were absolutely fantastic last saturday! john and his wife were super nice as well, hope this becomes regular/semi regular for sure.

question--do the cheeses rotate? I believe the last two times i was there they were the same (not that its a bad thing, the cheese is awesome), but just curious if they will be changing from time to time/if i just happened to be there when they were the same.

Brought in some English Stilton this week

I cannot argue that the cheeses you bring in are delicious! but it baffles my mind that VT cheeses aren't showcased in all their glory.

Do you guys/gals just get bored with the embarassment of riches in your own back yard?

Jasper Hill's Harbison might be one of the greatest things I've ever eaten. I need to just move to Vermont already.

I probably should know this by now, but do any of the Waterbury bars serve food late? Like 11pm late?

I believe there is a pizza place around the corner from Blackback that serves fairly late...

Edit: It's Bluestone but their website says they close at 10. Guess I must have been out a long time and it seemed later than I realized
