Opened a bottle of this batch of Twilight last night and unfortunately encountered a bit of a band-aid bomb. Even the wife said "something tastes really wrong with this" unprompted. Has anyone else noticed this or can I safely assume this was just a bum bottle?
I've had two bottles of this Twilight and both have been fantastic. Vanilla as it warms, nice balance with coffee. I never have really gotten cinnamon from this beer so I still didn't detect that. But I've never experienced the band-aid bombs on HF bottles like some have.

I may have to open another Twilight tonight now. For science and for the good of the community, we must get to the bottom of this.

I think this conversation is compelling me to open one when I get home. Have a Christmas party tonight at work and I anticipate it's going to take the gf forever to get ready so I'll need to kill some time somehow.

I wasn't there so I can't speak first hand, but one was opened at night 1 of Donnypalooza and I was told no vanilla or coffee and too dry as well.
Yeah the one we had tasted like a slightly less roasty Everett. No vanilla or coffee at all. Concur with everyone else will need to open another one.

Getting a lot of coffee and roasted malt character from this bottle, no off flavors, not much vanilla, no cinnamon. A lovely coffee porter.

A bit more vanilla coming out in the finish as it warms up. Next one of these I drink I think I'm just going to open it at room temperature and see what that's like.

Genealogy is sooooooooooooooooooooooo good. God damn. I don't even like stouts.

Feel the same way. Actually, I'm curious if the community could recommend some similar stouts. I always assumed I wasn't interested in high(er) ABV stouts because I tried and didn't like them when I was first getting into craft beer. I've had some stouts recently that I've loved: Earl, Double Shot, Good Morning, Genealogy, Huna. If anyone has any recommendations I'd be appreciative. Happy to try and trade for some to prepare for this winter!

Founders Imperial Stout, or if you want coffee also, Founders Breakfast Stout. Both widely available and delicious.

Wednesday...

Leaves of Grass

A Belgian-inspired brown ale open-fermented in an oak tank. In keeping with the style, this is complex, rich and beautifully effervescent. Highly carbonated. Best served between 34 and 40 F.

$8 per bottle. 2 bottles per person. 375ml.

Elaborative Three

Brewed March 2014 with our friend Brad Clark of Jackie O’s Pub & Brewery, we crafted this imperial stout with Rapadura, a traditional unrefined cane sugar, then aged it for 20 months in a variety of bourbon barrels. A carefully selected blend of barrels results in a unique, luxurious and complex beer, one that represents the deep, abiding friendship that guided its creation. Best served between 50 and 55 F.

$20 per bottle. 2 bottles per person. 500ml.

Everett

A new batch of our American porter.

$8 per bottle. 500ml.

So glad I had to put.last weeks trip off until this week

popped a few bottles last night:

recent batch of Florence = off the hook, tart, delicious - love when a batch tastes this good fresh
gin clara = barrel added some interesting notes, lightly tart, great nose, taste wasn't far from normal clara. bottle cap smelled like stinky gym socks.
Leave o Grass - tea = this one was wonderful, would love to see a big batch of this. tart, citrus, complex. could drink this all day
