This makes me think that I'm not getting enough $10 saison when available and should have a basement of boxes stacked to the ceiling with this to make me feel better about all this.

perhaps the 6.5 hour trip makes me look at it that way... like why am I spend 15/20 on something from another brewery out here that is not making the same quality as a 10 dollar saison from HF when I can take the opportunity and buy 2 cases every month while I'm up there

I can only get up there 2-3x a year and I have those same feels

and that's why I'm okay with a 40 dollar bottle... it's what? once or twice a year? I've paid 40 for some Loons or De Cam
I agree. that said, I don't get this release as truly geared towards his "locals" though.
as said above, this will sell out.

not all locals... and not all customers regardless of where they are from... the guy does a lot for his locals and keeps his prices fair year round.... won't knock him for a couple bottles a year that aren't "cheap"

all the $10 saison I get when I usually go up makes me more than ok with paying $40 for something special... and the 2012 batch was definitely special
Yes it was! Thank you again OsLovesBeer for giving ncaudle and myself the chance to sip on that sweet nectar. While I think the price is high, it will definitely still sell out. I shudder to think what the price Ann might be when it comes out though.

$75/bottle. 1 bottle per neighborhood. Eligible to purchase once you submit a haiku about your favorite HF beer.

Because Dupont makes a better quality saison for the same price?

People are willing to pay $40 Chocolate Rain, $40 DDG, $40-$50 Hommage, $50 BVDL, $18 Beat (375ml) and those aren't aged nearly as long. I have zero issues with $40 Art. Fine wine costs a hell of a lot more.
Pretty sure that DDG, Hommage, and Beat are all aged as long or longer.

You are correct for DDG and Hommage, not sure about Beat, and def not for BVDL and Chocolate Rain. But everyone got the point i was trying to make. a couple bad examples on my part. Trying to think of some others..... Hmmm

Beat's oldest component is 18 months. Bottle conditioning is typically another 3 to 4. Is this 2-year Art? Do we know?

If you really want to get down to it, the malt bill on something like Art is ridiculously simple and cheap (as is something like Hommage/Beat/DDG), while the malt bill on something like Chocolate Rain or BVDL is likely 4x more money.

I think Art is worth dropping $40 for, though.

Also, if a barrel of Art goes south, that probably represents a much larger percentage of the batch than if a barrel of Black Tuesday goes south. Or DDG/Beat/Hommage.
