Just opened one last night followed by 05/14 Arthur and latest Convivial. Nordic is really singing w/ 3 months in the bottle. Fantasticly tart !

At my tasting on Friday or Thursday I'm going to do a mini Arthur vertical with everyone. Curious to see how 1 year old arthur tastes in the bottle.
Agreed, Nordic is fantastic. Reminds me a lot of last year's Anna in tartness and mouthfeel.

Dumb noob question:

I heard that Anna, Arthur, Florence, etc see oak now too. Are Ann/Art/Flora/etc barrel-aged, while Arthur and Anna are foudre-aged? Or are those stainless? Basically, what's the difference between them?

Yes. The difference is: wine barrels, extended aging, more surface area contact with wood.

and a little more....

before they had the foudres, the regular saisons saw virgin oak barrels for a short time (weeks I believe).

Ann/Art/Flora are all wine barrel aged for an extended time, like Frank said.

SS#7 was really amazing. I enjoyed it more than HT and other famous DIPAs. I'm curious now about others in the series, from people who had more than one iteration.

I've tried 4, 5 and 6. So far, 4 is my favorite, but they are all fantastic: soft and juicy up front with just enough bitterness in the finish to balance. Hope to get up there while 7 is still on.

Could it be compared to E. minus the barrel aging process? Similar to Florence/Flora Arthur/Art etc...

Yes, they are very similar minus the wine barrel treatment E. gets. So I guess it shouldn't have been a surprise to me that I didn't enjoy Dorothy at all. The nose is nice, but I find it super bitter and unbalanced, really hard to drink. Which is exactly how I felt about the bottle of E. from the 2nd batch that I had a little over a year ago. This new batch of E. (b3) also wasn't a favorite of mine when fresh, but it has definitely developed in the bottle and I really enjoyed the last one I drank.

Perhaps its just not a style I enjoy. I guess that just means more Dorothy for you guys. You're welcome.

SS 7 is really awesome. My ranking is 4>7>5>>>>6>>>>>>>>123. I think they are all good beers just some aren't worth the hassle.
