don't recall the limits but from what we were told, it was way worse going from the US into Canada than vice versa...

Back a few years ago when there was no limit I easily left w that many one time through the line. Things weren't like they are now though and even then I'll admit it was a lil ridiculous.

My first trip ever to HF my buddy and I came back with like 15 growlers, and we were probably on the low end in terms of what other folks in line were doing. Those lines moved SLOW- but there were also not too many people in them...

I don't remember either, but I think it is somewhere around 72 oz per person if you are returning within 24 hours. If you stay longer the limit goes up (or at least that's how it used to work)

Oregon Brook campground is great.
Its about 10 minutes from HF, and you have to pass it to get to HF anyways.

I guess the owner recently died, he was really nice.

It was super cheap, well maintained, has a heated/ lighted bathroom.

If your going to camp, that should be your first choice.
Thanks for the info! This is the one we're looking into, so it's nice to get an actual personal recommendation.

I was hoping to just grab one :( joys of living so far away.

I think you can bring roughly a case of booze coming back to the US from Canada. Going into Canada is where it's a bit tricky - if you're American you can bring a case of beer across for no cost. If you;re Canadian there's the 48 hour rule, plus limits depending on where you cross.

Crossing into Quebec at Derby Line is the absolute worse place you can cross into Canada.

So the wife and I got our growlers a case or Anna, an arctic saison and two la sarrasins.

Went to cross at derby line, parents house is on lake massawippi. 15 mins north of boarder. We roll up, they ask if we have alcohol. I say yes some beer, lady asks want some beer is, i say 30 bottles. She let's us roll. No ***** given. She didn't ask what size the bottles were etc. We had over the 24x12 limit. But even if they checked we would just have had to pay taxes on the overage. It's not illegal to have more. Coming back to NJ on Sunday and don't expect any issues then either. Have some bottles from bellwoods in Toronto I'm lugging back too. Should be all gravy.

People at HF were super nice. Overcharged me for 3 Belgian glasses and made good on second trip through the line in fixing it. Even made note that they hoped I was coming back because they figured it out after I left. Had some pizza for lunch at Parker pie. They had some cantillon but think for on premisis only consumption so just went with a to mart citra. Some nice bottles for take out in there too, might stop back in on Sunday when heading home.

Any idea if montpiler could have any Heady on a Sunday? Guy told me that was as far north and near 91 heady made it. Can't get over to Waterbury/Stowe/hunger mountain/winoski etc.

Saw some races I recognized from either tired hands or other local NJ/Phily outings. Glad to see so many people up there all being chill and no issues hassles with people causing a muck.

Can't wait for my next trip back.

I did pull a total newb act tho. First trip through I saw some bottles I didn't see on any lists, second trip through I asked about them and they are elaborative #1 and prolegomena. Both had sold out by the time I was up for my second trip through. Was a bit disappointed about that but couldn't be for long with all the goodies I got. Glad I got the two la sarrasins the first time through bc it was gone my second time through

The la vermontesser or whatever also kicked. Not sure what is next but I'd guess Nordic saison?

Hope all you guys going up the next few days get all you want and more! Cheers all. Such a blast today, kid in a damned candy store in the middle of nowhere VT, that is what it's all about!

Second the Oregon Brook recommendation. Stayed here last September and it was perfect. Prices have gone up slightly, from $10 to $15 per person per night for camping. Cabin is the same. No more free firewood, though. Too bad hearing about Ed, he was definitely a very nice man. I've already booked the cabin for Aug 15th and 16th (bottle share?). Although, wondering what this "indefinite" postponement is all about.... Anyone?

Had Ann with a buddy last night. Way way different than I remember. Last time I had it it was 3-4 months in the bottle.

Brett had taken over but there was still quite a bit of oaky/vanilla notes up front and a ton of wine barrel came out as it warmed. Nose was all Brett. Personally think it had seen better days when it was a little brighter from the wine barbell but it's hard to imagine it is over 3 years old at this point too!

Any locals know where the best chances of finding some heady would be this weekend? saw the friday deliveries are going out early because of the holiday, thinking these will prob be gone by the time I get up there tomorrow afternoon.

The smaller out of the way stores are you're only hope (or a local to get some for you). Getting heady on a holiday weekend is a pita.

So much Anna

4th, 5th, and 6th in line. Walked out at 12:35. S&S4 tastes as great as I remembered. Wound up with two growlers of that and one Susan. Maxed on Anna, three bottles of Arctic Saison, and they had Elab One and Prologomena at 1pp. Expensive ******* day

hey...was this from today? the 3rd? or yesterday, the 2nd? only asking, because I thought they sold out of the "Elab One and Prologomena" yesterday. maybe they had certain amount set aside for each day?

Awesome haul. ******* love Prolegomena - I'm assuming this is from the original batch right? I know Shaun rebrewed it last year.

Yeah seems only a certain amount each day to spread it out. I waited for my second trip yesterday bc I didn't really notice it the first time through and they told me it was sold out. I was a sad panda. I've had elaborative 1 before tho so wasn't super sad with all the stuff I came away with how could I be

Might be hitting HF tomorrow to grab Susan and Abner. Probably won't get there till 4. I know they close at 5, but if you are in line before that, will you still get served if you're still in line at 5? Any idea how busy they will be tomorrow?

Yes. Just get in line before 5 (assuming normal hours tomorrow).

Don't know on crowd. Would guess very because of holiday weekend, but some local VTers would probably have a better sense.
