I did notice that it has disappeared from the "upcoming bottle releases" thread.

I'm sad, as I really want this thing in my mouthhole.
Someone asked Shaun about it on Twitter a few weeks back. He said Cherry Flora "won't see a public release". Take it to mean silent shelf release.

I take that more to mean he's going to drink them all himself and maybe give a few bottles out.

Edit: Rereading with context, you're probably right. Tweet

Hopefully I can make it up when it hits the shelves. If not anyone who frequents ISO: Prop ??

My thoughts on it exactly, however I still got one out of curiosity and it was pretty damn good. If it was on hand for a lil cheaper I would definitely buy it again. Nothing mind blowing but it tastes pretty fresh.

I asked Kerrie and Phil the above question and they said that Shaun made sure it was a fresh batch (despite no bottle date o_O) or he wouldn't sell it. Given Shaun's opinion on freshness in IPAs I'm sure it's a pretty reasonable age.
Black IPAs can actually hold up well -- the dark malts slow down oxidation much more effectively than in standard IPAs.

Negative, captain. Take it to mean that it won't see a public retail release.
That's what I take it to mean as well. Put it alongside Being & Time and prepare to enjoy both once the construction is completely done. I'm betting on numerous on-site only releases each year. Such as if he does DB Damon again, or Ann again, etc. Just a hunch I have, based on nothing.

Or maybe it'll just be for Collected Works?

I really wish more places would do this. It makes for a much more enjoyable experience when there are plenty of bottles to last on site for awhile, and you get the full experience of having the beer, being at the brewery, etc without a massive crowd. Of course, not saying that these HF releases will be that big, but would be great for something that would otherwise be a 1000-1500 bottle release.

Hope not, cause I missed out on Collected Works! Who knows though, especially if the Collected Works grows in size a bit. The single-barrel releases yield what, 300ish 375ml bottles? Say CW expands to 200 people and then he holds 100 bottles back. I could see that. I'd still hope to find some of said bottles available for on-site consumption from time to time, but who knows.

Can't wait to see the evolution of their releases in the next year or so as construction finishes, etc.

Absolutely. I'd be fine with them giving up on really limited releases and having everything be on-site. Then, if you actually manage to get a spot at HF to enjoy a few bottles, you'll have a choice of a few different barrel aged beauties.

I think you guys are spot on. This is my understanding of what will likely happen to the extremely low yield beers. On-site consumption only. Some may make it out to friends and collected works, but I don't think they'll ever see the shelf even with a silent release.

And like Bill, I am perfectly fine with that. I have no problem leisurely going up one day, grabbing whatever is on the shelf and a few growlers and then sitting down to a split a bottle of Being and Time among friends.

Exactly. It would be great if they get to the point where you can show up, place a growler/bottle order, and then linger for a couple hours while enjoying a draft or two and/or a special bottle or two. Picture going up there, placing an order for 3-4 growlers and six bottles of Arthur and then sitting down with a few friends to have a couple Edwards fresh from the source while splitting a bottle of Being & Time or Cherry Flora or whatever. That's a good time.

for on prem consumption of beers like Being & Time and Cherry Flora, wouldn't he need to get a different type of ABC license? I mean, isn't this why you can't buy a pint there now, as is?

or would he just open a bottle and pour the requisite 2-3-4ozs and put the bottle away in the fridge?

As part of the renovation/expansion, there's going to be an on-site pub/bar for having a full pint or two. So I'm assuming whatever license change he needs is in the works.

I think you just described the perfect day!

Makes sense on cherry flora. I remember them posting on FB when they were at 3F drinking the kriek that they would "eventually have a fruited sour" to pour at the pub. Fairly confident this was the original plan

I believe the post was something like "when pub is open, i promise a beautifully tart cherry sour on hand pump at all times"

I liked that post.

EDIT:

If we manage to open a brewery pub/tasting room, I would like to promise you all (and myself...) a beautifully tart cherry sour all on cask/hand pump at all times =) Can an existing business launch a kickstarter campaign with a goal to bring the best possible fresh beer to the thirsty populace of our local community?

so who's going tomorrow? Anyone hanging in Waterbury at night?

i'm at home today working away (big surprise) but if anyone is passing through Thetford / Lyme NH on their way to or from HFS, let me know and we can open a beer. I have a thing at 7PM tonight but am free before.

Happy Norma Day!

PS: I will not complain if you want to share a norma bottle.
