I had multiple bottles of the first batch that were just fine. So it stands to reason, especially with the QC that normally goes on there, that bottles that were sampled prior to selling were fine and the issue only came to light later once more were opened.

Second batch is absolutely phenomenal by the way.

I *loved* the second batch. My biggest problem with BA reviews is illustrated by the recent reviews for that beer - it, for some reason, has reviews in the mid 3s, because people are being sheeple and just reviewing it in the range of the community average, where that beer (b2, anyway) was vastly better than say, La Vermontoise, and close to the level of b2 Suarez.

These may be decent for one time use (I received a growler in the mail once with this type of cap). But I would never again try to reuse one (whereas the metal caps can be used over and over until they become rusty). The only time I've ever tried to reuse one of these plastic caps, the pressure broke the cap right off, and Nebco's Premeditated Murder spilled out onto my back seat. The seat is still stained. Fortunately I was able to drink the remaining 75% of the contents once I got home.
I used to use the black poly-seal caps exclusively until I lost them all. Filled more growlers than I could count. I even used them to carbonate homebrew in growlers. The only problem I ever had with them is that they can be seriously hard to screw off

Your cap sounds like it was defective or wasnt seated properly

OK, so you are not talking about the most recent batch, correct?

I drank one and didn't find carb to be an issue.

Only beer though I've ever had, which tasted like menthol. I found it kind of interesting actually, but not what I'd ever expect out of a beer.

b1, but I don't buy anything Fantome at this point anyway

alright gents speak to me about a HF beer that I hadnt realized existed.

Prolegomena! tell me more and how much i gotta fork over for more flanderz!

Probably the wrong place for it, but does anyone know where to find these for 32oz grenade growlers? They exist, and there was a BA thread on it once, but all of those links appear to be now dead. I really want some...

The style of bottle that the "grenade growler" is, is a 32 oz. Amber Boston Round. (My company is in the fuel testing industry, and we go through hundreds of thousands of these a year) If you were to google this, you would find many places to purchase. First result that comes up for me is Uline, who will sell you 12 for about 30 bucks.

Wrong kind.. those are like the caps on Dave.

Not sure you read my post right - I'm looking for polyseal caps (e.g., these) for these, not the growlers themselves, which I have tons of. I have plenty of the crappy white metal caps but I've never found a place to get the polyseal ones, although I have plenty of them for the 64oz growlers.

Prolegomena was supposed to come out with Elab 1 and MC1 at the 3rd anniversary party, but the bottle release got cancelled/delayed due to the unexpected snowstorm that day

And then MC1 (6/pp,) MC2 (1/pp,) CD6 (6/pp) all came out same day and Elaborative 1 (2/pp) was also on the shelves that day. I want to say that Anna (or Arthur,) was also available that day but some guy got 4-5 mules together and they cleared house on those.

Prolegomena was my favorite new beer of 2013. Eternally ISO if anyone wants to part with any.

still the only one from last year I havent been able to try (though a friend has one he's saving for a big HF tasting we're having after we get back from VT next month)

Did anyone else try and compare what I thought was supposed to be the CBC version of progelomena - Ship of Fools? I think I may have liked it better than HF's

Liked Prolegomena way better. I found Ship of Fools to be crazy tannic. My buddy described the finish as chewing on the stick after you finish a popsicle.

That was one of the things I really liked. A big red wine tannic bite on the finish. HF's was more delicate and palatable overall I suppose
