No more Golden Blend, but regular 3F OG 375s on the shelf for $12 (pricy...) and looks like Black Nitro is on the shelf, $10 for a 500 mL.

Nothing like an overpriced 375mL and a IPA that came by boat with no bottle date on it.

Good news, 750's of 3F OG have been all over VT for <$20 recently.

Updates to the growler policy (no change to limits).

We will fill growlers from other breweries, with the following important caveats: We will no longer fill metal growlers, as it is difficult to ensure that they're clean and with our current filling setup, it's wasteful not being able to see the fill level; we can no longer fill the large, German style growlers with the metal handles, as they do not fit under our taps properly and too often cause damage to the taps themselves because of the angle required to fill them; dark glass growlers only; and finally, if you are bringing screw-top style growlers, you must bring your own caps, as we do not keep them on hand. Thanks for your understanding!

I'm guessing these...right?

I would guess so... they don't sell growlers that have screw caps.
Ah, okay. I guess I just take for granted that places selling and filling growlers have caps. I definitely don't have enough caps for the number of screw-tops that I have.

ah, I only use the plastic ones that have the pressurized grommet thing inside them - they fit both my 64oz and 32oz (non pill-bottle/grenade style)

Yea those are pretty nice, but the caps that tend to come standard are just those crummy white metal ones with the threads that wear quickly. Definitely worth getting better caps though.

Curious as to whether or not they'll still fill these:

not bunker specifically, but that "style". it's basically the same glass as the German ones but without the specifically mentioned metal handle. i would be rather sure the answer is "no," as i think the height is the issue, but perhaps they should revise the text to be clear.

My thoughts on it exactly, however I still got one out of curiosity and it was pretty damn good. If it was on hand for a lil cheaper I would definitely buy it again. Nothing mind blowing but it tastes pretty fresh.

I asked Kerrie and Phil the above question and they said that Shaun made sure it was a fresh batch (despite no bottle date o_O) or he wouldn't sell it. Given Shaun's opinion on freshness in IPAs I'm sure it's a pretty reasonable age.

Probably the wrong place for it, but does anyone know where to find these for 32oz grenade growlers? They exist, and there was a BA thread on it once, but all of those links appear to be now dead. I really want some...

These may be decent for one time use (I received a growler in the mail once with this type of cap). But I would never again try to reuse one (whereas the metal caps can be used over and over until they become rusty). The only time I've ever tried to reuse one of these plastic caps, the pressure broke the cap right off, and Nebco's Premeditated Murder spilled out onto my back seat. The seat is still stained. Fortunately I was able to drink the remaining 75% of the contents once I got home.

YMMV. I have reused a single one of these caps from Tree House probably at least 10 times, longer than I've ever used a single of the white metal caps. The seal on the metal ones dies after a few uses.

Kinda like 5 Sciences being carbonated....

Maybe neither are a good option to re-use. Because my experience is the opposite. But I've had traders tell me never to re-use growler caps, period. The only problem with that is when I'd like to re-use my screwtops at a place like HF who doesn't stock them. I've had that 1L screwtop growler (who's grenade top blew up) in my car for months because 90% of the places I go don't have the 1L screwtops. Also some places who's policy is to use their growlers, but show some leniency with it, sometimes asking for a new cap is all that's needed to push them towards making you buy a new growler.

Also, the HF growlers may be cheap (particularly the 750) relative to how much you end up spending when going up there, but $10 for the 2L's adds up, especially when you are constantly shipping growlers out in trades and having to buy new ones. The 2L screwtops around here run between $3 - $6.

don't know where to buy them stand-alone. the 32oz grenade/pill-bottle growler I got at Pizza Boy came with one

Growler caps can be had for $0.35/per. Buy 100 and be done for life.

I'm not sure that's a great analogy as I recall Shaun being pretty forthright about the issue.

you recall extremely incorrectly.
They were only forthright after the beer had been distro'd and people started complaining.

Then they stuck signs up and continued to sell the beer rather than pouring it in the trash where it belonged.

Fair enough. Apparently I just remembered their acknowledging the issue and not what led up to it.

I had multiple bottles of the first batch that were just fine. So it stands to reason, especially with the QC that normally goes on there, that bottles that were sampled prior to selling were fine and the issue only came to light later once more were opened.

Second batch is absolutely phenomenal by the way.

$10 for the 2L's can add up, for sure, but $10 for a 2L swing top is the best price I've ever found direct from a brewery

OK, so you are not talking about the most recent batch, correct?

I drank one and didn't find carb to be an issue.

Only beer though I've ever had, which tasted like menthol. I found it kind of interesting actually, but not what I'd ever expect out of a beer.
