I would say that if they weren't worried about it today, then it would likely last until Sat. They would drop the limit to 1/per once it starts getting close.
 
Hey all. Will be heading up to the land of the half heads/ie Canada on Saturday 12/21, returning 12/28. We go up 91 North and was thinking of stopping by HF.

Have a few questions that maybe I can get some conjecture answers and these question can no way be answered to a T.

If I am to arrive Saturday afternoon say around 2 ish, what's the best estimate on wait time to purchase anything.

I will have wife and dog with me, can dog wait in any line, and or can wife chill in car till I'm close to being up in line so we can purchase beer/goods.

I don't want to disrupt anybody else's time up ther nor have my wife and pooch waiting out in the cold for a long period of time.

Another question, What's the per person bottle limit on beers currently for sale in bottle and also what are growler limits? Being I'll be crossing over into Canada on 12/21 I know I'm only allowed 24*12 oz without any issues. Not saying I plan to acquire said ounces, just want to know what is doable as I want to make sure my week in Canada I bring as much from home as necessary while still being able to get as much HF as I can for my person.

Also, in way of heady where would best spot be near HF to possibility nab some cans? This may be more for way home come 12/28 weather dependent. Have a manual civic and have done my share of snow driving but I'm not going to jeopardize safety here, if weather turns crappy I'm not going anywhere but 91 north or south.

A: If you were to just get bottles, then you could be in and out very quickly, as you can by pass the growler line. However, they only let you do this when they have more than enough bottles on hand for everyone in the growler line. So if there have 3 different bottles for sale, but 2 are running low, they might only let you buy your limit of the one beer they have plenty of. If you get in the growler line at 2pm on a Sat I would say you safely have a 2hr wait ahead, which could easily strech to 3hrs.

A: With the renevation the line is mostly indoors now, and I do not believe non service dogs are welcomed inside. The very nice golden retriever that frequents the brewery is now ushered out immediately upon entering the new space. So you'll proably want your dog to chill with the wife outside or in the car.

None of them are really near HF, I believe Morrisville is you closest option. You pretty much need to go the day of delivery, ideally shortly after arrival. Some places sell out in minutes lately, some hours.
 
We're supposed to get an ice storm Sat->Sun, travel safe...When I bring my dogs with me, I leave them in the car when I do my shopping. Then, treat them to a nice walk around one of the many fields or around the farm as they play with the golden. Everyone is happy once we get back in the car. Just be sure to pick up after him.

Don't think a 2-3 hr wait is going to sit well with the Mrs nor do I feel I'll want to wait that long. How many people are in line for a wait of this length? 40?
 
Anyone know anything about this Flora Cuvee that's on the "Coming Soon" list on the website? I know nothing but it sounds potentially amazing.

By definition, probably nothing to write home about.

Cuvée[1] (French pronunciation: [kyve]) is a French wine term derived from cuve, meaning vat or tank.[2][3] The term cuvée is used with several different meanings, more or less based on the concept of a tank of wine put to some purpose:

  • On wine labels to denote wine of a specific blend or batch. Since the usage of the term cuvée for this purpose is unregulated, and most wines will have been stored in a vat or tank at some stage of their production, the presence of the word cuvée on a label of an arbitrary producer is no guarantee of its (superior) quality. However, in the range of discerning producers who market both regular blends and blends called "cuvée...", the cuvée-labeled wines will usually be special blends or selected vats of higher quality, at least in comparison to that producer's regular wine(s). Particularly terms like "cuvée speciale", or "tête de cuvée" (the latter especially in Sauternes AOC) should indicate higher quality.
  • The term can also be applied to beer and ale or chocolate to refer to a batch that is blended by the manufacturers to produce a certain taste. Many lambics and gueuzes, sour beers with wine-like characteristics, are marketed as "cuvee". It wouldn't shock me if it's a blend of various batches of Flora that have been in different barrels for different lengths of time. Which could be glorious.
 
Shaun posted on Twitter that it was aged 22 months in oak. No other details yet.

He also compared it to a savagnin wine which is a somewhat funky oxidative wine from the Jura region of France
 
As it turns out, Twilight of the Idols was sold out and not Birth of Tragedy. The latter opened the day at 4 per person, but the website now says 1 per. Port Damon limit was dropped to 1 per before they opened. Both must be about to go.

Haha I was about to post that info on the other site but then thought better of it. When were you there? I was with Donny West Rox and Jon, a little before 1

Ha...yeah, would rather contribute that info here. I was there with a couple friends early...6-7-8 in line. Out of there by 12:30 and off to Montpelier for some double dry-hopped Double Sunshine at the Three Penny. Was BoT still at 4 per by the time you got up there?

Yeah, we were expecting it to be out (check online before arriving) and then limit 1 after checking again while in line, but it was still 4 per.

You didn't go for the Farmer's Market? We were at the Skinny Pancake for massively overpriced for tiny portions breakfast while waiting for the market to start

Nah...met a friend at Three Penny and picked up my tote package at HF so those were the priorities. My friends wanted to do round trip, so we couldn't squeeze in the Farmer's Market. What did you haul out of there?
