Need some advice please. Thinking about heading up over Thanksgiving with the family. Bearing in mind this is likely to be the only trip I’ll ever make there I’m keen to try to avoid the likelihood of it just being the regular stuff on sale (much as I enjoy that gear too). Looking back over the blogs it looks like they possibly don’t release much that week. Is that a fair assessment?
I went this past Friday in a similar situation and had a terrific time. No lines for anything, had the chance to drink a flora melange on site along with some cask Mary and split a great pizza while relaxing for a couple hours. Picked up some shelf bottles and a couple six packs and headed out. It really is a great spot; even my very patient wife enjoyed it a lot.

It's still worth it for the onsite bottles and atmosphere even if you can't take anything good away.

That’s a fair assessment, but the trade off is that it tends to be a very relaxed atmosphere if you’re hanging out for on-site. Or if you’re in a hurry to go do family stuff, then at least the lines aren’t bad. I’ll be there Wednesday at open if you want to split anything.

Likely it’ll be the Friday. Lack of massive queues would be a definite plus with a 4 year old and a dog in tow.

Will be the only one driving so on-site drinking isn’t going to be on the cards beyond a single beer with lunch. But if that beer was a properly conditioned pint of something HF I’d be thrilled. I assume Ryan dropped that particular knowledge during his stint there. ;-)

Sorry, usually a lurker here but since I always Airbnb up there for thanksgiving I thought I’d chime in. Two years ago BG&E growler fill edition was released during thanksgiving week and it was fantastic. They’ve had great to-go options the past 3 thanksgivings I’ve stayed up there because I think November is slower and the previous releases last longer. It tends to be busy at open, but a relaxed kind of busy if that makes sense. Then the last hour they are open is really quiet. It’s an amazing time to make the trip and if I could only go once a year, that’s when I’d do it.

Concur with this, I went up Thanksgiving of 2015 and it was a great visit. Very relaxed in the tasting room and got to drink CD13 which they had just released on-site. No really limited special releases, but Twilight of the Idols and BA maple syrup were both available. Definitely a nice time to go up.

Man, CD13. What an awesome beer that was.

Last thanksgiving week Clover was onsite for regulars each day. Damon Kieni lasted through that week too for onsite. Not saying you should expect that or something like it, but there's no shortage of infinite surprises and unannounced wonderment.

Just a heads up, thanksgiving is within the early snow season for NEK. Usually nothing too terrible, but there is a chance of inclement weather. That beings said, temps are usually around 30-40, which may be of concern cause dogs can't come into the taproom (but can go into the retail).

Great info. Thank you both.

Something tells me Emerson gives zero ***** what kinda brewery Hill Farmstead is. Nevertheless, these S&S beers are sooo damn good.

Anyone gonna be at HF today on the early side and wanna split the new BoT? Was supposed to meet up with someone but doesn’t look like that’s going to happen now.
