Iris made it longer then Hommage as I was in that line waiting...

We got the last Iris on Thursday around 3:20pm. There was less than a case of Hommage left at that time. I didn't see too many people getting either, mostly growlers and Nordic Saison.

Must say the new growler/bottles ordering system cuts wait time by a third. Got on line at the door and was out in a little more than an hour.

Yeah they have that **** pretty dialed in. It's great

it's fantastic how well they are working the lines now... I told them as much last week, I was 20 something in line and didn't get to finish my samples by the time my order was in. The CC thing will only make it faster.

although, it never bothered me much. I told them before, if you're like me, and traveled a handful of hours for beer, waiting in line for beer should not be something you complain about.

After hearing about how brutal the lines were for a while from friends and online, my first time visiting this week was a breeze. I ended up going both Thursday and Friday and I didn't wait more than 40 minutes on Thursday after arriving at roughly 12:20. When I got there on Friday around 4:15 I was through the line in less than half an hour. Both times they offered to fill up more than 3 growlers for me without having to wait through the line a second time because the crowds were so small. (I only took them up on it once mostly because I'd maxed out my cooler space by that point.)

I'm assuming I got partially lucky due to there being nothing too limited available, but I was more than pleased with what I ended up getting, and the cherry on top was when Shaun Hill popped out with two magnums of Anna on Friday as I was finishing my tasting after already having my fills in hand. (The line does indeed move quick and I had already ordered by the time I even started my tasting.) Luckily there was no one in line at that point so I jumped back over and snagged one of the magnums after the folks checking out picked up the first one and left feeling extremely happy I'd decided to take the second trip.

The must of put more Hommage out afterwards I was at counter at 1:45 and Hommage was gone only Iris...

We are pleased to announce that we are now accepting MasterCard, Visa and Discover cards for payment in our retail shop.

I can't wait until cards start getting declined at HF followed immediately by a call to the cardholder's cellphone from the credit card company: "An abnormally large charge was just made to your account from a location outside of your usual activity range, we are calling to confirm if this charge is valid."

Or the people waiting in a specially designated area because of spotty cell service and trying to confirm the charge.

I can't go up this week. Next week is up in the air... if not, it will have to wait for FoFA

Anyone interested in carpooling tomorrow for their inaugural HF credit card charge?
If I wasn't going either on the way to beer camp or on the way back this weekend id probably come down with something tonight and go tomorrow with you.

I'm probably going, but leaving from Nashua so carpooling probably not going to work, unless you wanted to pick me up.

I should be passing through Nashua along Rte 3.

On a different topic: what are the limits on Heady in the non-case stores usually like, 4-pack per person? Wondering if it's worth circling by Waterbury

2 4-packs. You can build a case pretty easily.

CBC Waterbury: Limit 1
Crossroads: don't know

Any of you cocknockers gonna be there tomorrow? I need to know if I should leave my kid at home...some of you are registered...I just know it.

Just a casual addition on the retail page today ...
  • Siren Brewing/Hill Farmstead/Mikkeller Lemon Cello IPA - 500ml, $8
500ml has me thinking this was brewed and bottled at Hill... any confirmation on this?

from 2nd hand source (not from HFS or Shaun):
  • This is a new batch of the beer..not the one that was imported to USA last year
  • Brewed @ Siren
  • Imported by Shelton
No clue if this'll be sent far & wide but I had the chance to drink Lemon Cello on tap at Mikkeller Bar SF and some bars around Vermont and it really is a fantastic beer. Ryan is a talented dude. the ABV is so well hidden. Hoping this batch is just as good.

Looks like Lemon Cello will be getting distro'd - at least according to Twitter. Hitting Florida this week via Shelton

Also to note prices went up....

Before when it was cash only and everything was kept track on pencil and paper all prices were noted with tax included I assume this was to make it easier and quicker with cash transactions and not dealing with coins.

Now:
We accept Cash, Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Listed retail prices do not include 6% Vermont State Sales Tax

An empty growler was $2.83 + 6% VT sales tax = $3 a 750ml growler.

Now it will be $3 + 6% VT sales tax = $3.18

So essentially prices went up 6%. Why ? Obviously to cover to extra fees credit card companies charge businesses to accept their credit cards. Do i agree with this ? Well if you want HF to accept credit cards then yes this must happen otherwise they would be making less money selling the same product accepting credit cards. And really whats an extra 6% when people are driving from far and wide. Then again when I'm dropping $500 at Hill Farmstead thats an extra $30 I have to pay to have the option of cash or credit.

Same thing when you drive by a gas station and they advertise the " Cash Price " you want a gallon of gas for $3.53 great pas us cash otherwise when you swipe your card we are charging you an extra $0.15 a gallon at
$3.68.

Again do I blame HF for doing this no. It's simple economics. Just pisses me off the real winners are big credit card corporations.
