We live in (what used to be) the industrial north of England. Now we go for walks and occasionally view our heritage via the derelict ruins of old pottery kilns, disused canals etc.
We both work supporting adults with learning disabilities but have enough spare time for hobbies.
We have built a small fruit and veg patch using the bottom half of the garden and go out into the fields to pick free fruit in autumn from the hedgerows for wine making, a little like our grandparents did in the times when people didn't spend hours on the internet or watching TV - when everything took a little longer to make but nobody minded.
Neither of us are into accumulating money - rather we're into enjoying as good a quality of life as we reasonably can for as long as it lasts.
Perhaps there are people on this forum who feel the same way.
