Hersbrucker spät hops?

I popped into my LHBS to pick up some hops and rye malt for my next batch and I saw hersbrucker spät hops. What? I’ve seen “hallertau hersbrucker” or “hersbrucker” before but I’ve never seen “hersbrucker spät” before. Have I been living under a rock?

Apparently the late-maturing variety, hence the spät name. Never heard of them till now.

So, did you buy some?

I really should have but the descriptor listed “orange” as a flavor on the package which I thought was odd. Sounded like all noble hop flavors plus orange which seemed a bit bizarre but I should’ve done it! Maybe I’ll drive back and pick up a few for a spring kölsch or something
