So I bottled an amber ale a week ago today. I filled my last bottle as full as I could (about half way) before I capped it. Because I can rarely wait to try my beers, I opened up this half filled bottle to see what I was in for with this batch on Thursday (only 4 days after bottling). It tasted like straight sugar. I then tried another bottle on Friday to see if they were all like that. It came out extremely flat. It looks like my priming sugar didn't get thoroughly mixed into my beer before bottling and it just sat in the bottom of my bottling bucket. I never give my beer a stir before bottling. I just rack right on top of the priming sugar solution. I will be sure to stir in the future. Is there any way to fix this? I think I can fix this by opening each bottle and dropping in sugar cubes sold by Cooper's and then recapping all of my beers, but I'm sure that doesn't fall in line with "best practices". Any advice/recommendations?

Store them in something that can contain any bottle bombs. Leave them at 70*F for two more weeks and then try one. If the priming sugar didn't get mixed properly then some bottles may explode, some will be perfect, and some will be flat. No way to know which each one will be. Odds are good that your beer will carb up fine and that everything will be good in a couple weeks.

1 week is not enough time. Give them at least 3 weeks at 70 degrees F and you'll be fine.

+1 to giving them more time. I'd also recommend dissolving the priming sugar In a cup of water then add that to bottling bucket then rack beer on top this will mix it in. This will solve not having a proper mix in the future.
