Ok, just kegged. Reconditioned keg, pressure tested.............................I get it full of brew and put the lid on, hook of gas and turn it on. I hear a hissing sounds coming from the lid where the large O ring is. So i shut off gas and take lid off and put back on. turn on gas, same thing, the hissing sound. So i apply pressure all to the lid and work the pressure around in a circular motion and after about 30 seconds the hissing stops. am i to assume that the ring just needed to seat itself and my keg will not leak all of the Co2? or should i shut off the gas and get a new ring tomorrow?

Both gauges on the Co2 valve seem to be holding steading.

ya, sometimes they do that. Some keg lube might be a good idea in the future. If you want to be certain, go get some soapy water and pour a bit on there. Bubbles show leaks

So, you're probably fine - just needed to set the seal

Was doing the water test as you responded. It appears that it just needed to seat itself and all is well now. This being the first keg for me i just wanted to ask and make sure.

Thanks

no offense, but in the future, you may want to try to find kegs in better condition if you can. ideally they should not need any pressure in order to seal properly. this is something that i've learned. most of my earlier kegs have issues sealing, and i always have to put pressure in the keg in order to get a positive seal. my recent keg aquisitions don't need this tinkering in order to seal. it's a blessing for sure. heh.
