I am in about 30 minutes into my mash and I accidentally left the rims temp at 168, so I've been mashing at that temp for about 25 minutes. Just realized it and freaked out. Turned temps down but am afraid I ruined it. Do I need to get new grain and start over?

Can't believe I did this.

I do all electric rims biab...

This was for a brew fest so I think I'm screwed. So disappointed in my mistake.
 
That's pretty high for 30 mins...I think I'd finish up the mash and take a pre-boil reading. If you're in the ball park run with it, just keep in mind your FG will probably be high and your beer will be sweeter. You could always add table sugar to try to dry it out a bit, but then that'll bump up your ABV, so it's a balancing game.

So far so good. Hit my numbers and also got the temp back down. Boiling now. I am adding corn sugar at 0 minutes.

You may have had significant conversion at the lower temps prior to the temp rise, interesting to see if it make a huge difference???

I will find it humbling if the beer is not that much different than intended...all these specific temps and rests thrown out the window and we still have beer, kinda funny, the concept not your mistake.

Yea if you milled fine, conversion may have been very quick....someone here mashes in low and begins a slow ramp to mashout temps, not sure how quickly.
 
I double crush at a fine setting, the temp started at about 148 at dough-in so you guys are probably right. My og was a little lower than expected but likely my fault because I had to add some top-off water.

People made beer for many hundreds of years before any kind of accurate temperature measurement was available. Maybe we just like to use all the gadgets we have available? :D
