I made an ESB from extract kit and everything was going perfect. I had a cherry ESB a few years ago at a homebrew event and it was great. My homebrew store suggested adding 4oz of cherry extract for a 5 gallon batch right before kegging. Just before kegging my ESB, it tasted awesome.

THEN I ADDED THE CHERRY EXTRACT !

After waiting 4 days for the carbonation I tasted it, it's awful. The taste of cherry is overwhelming.

Is there any way to fix this? Will the cherry flavor tone down over time?

I would appreciate any advice on how to fix this if possible.

I would give it a little more time. The flavor of your beer in the keg can change dramatically if you compare 4 days in the keg vs. 2-3 weeks. I have never used cherry extract but I would imagine it would mellow out over time.

Pretty much agree with Antonio above. Next time, run some blending trials, use a teaspoon of extract in a 1 cup of beer, make another sample with 1/2 teaspoon and another with 1/4 teaspoon and don't be in a hurry, think it over before you add anything. You may want to ask friends or SWMBO for their opinion.
If all the samples are too strong, start over with 2 cups of beer.
A teaspoon =.16666 US fluid OZ, so you'll have to do some math to figure how much to add to the whole batch.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give it some more time and maybe it will improve. Next time I'll make sure I test out the ratios like madscientest451 suggests. Was a little too impatient and confident this time.
