Hey guys, looking to brew a brown ale tomorrow and was wondering if I could get some input on the hops I should use. I have the following on hand:

magnum
chinook
nugget
east kent
saaz
cascade
centennial
northern brewer

I've never brewed a brown before and am unsure what hops would work best. I was thinking Chinook 60min and saaz 15min. What else should I consider. I can also use pale malt or pilsener malt. Which would be best if I want to go for a thicker mouth feel nutty flavour. I was also going to use flaked oats, chocolate malt, crystal 30, and victory malt for speciality grains. Anything you guys would suggest removing or adding?

Thanks

This was the first beer I brewed. It is a very good brown. Hoppy, but good.

Thanks for the suggestion. Isn't that a crazy amount of hops for a brown ale? I do really like cascade and centennial so that's a definite consideration.

I thought the same thing when a buddy suggested that I brew it. It turned out to be amazing (if you like hops that is). You can always scale the hops back to fit your tastes.

I would use chinook for bitter and EKG for flavor & aroma, pale malt as base, drop the C30, or replace with C90, and use wlp002 or similar

Janet's Brown is a classic, though I have to say even as a hop head brown ales are one American style where I tend to go with the less citrusy hops. So regardless of what yeast you choose northern brewer or EKG sound good to me, I also like willamette. I agree with the base malt of pale rather than pilsner.

I like the idea chinook bitter and NB or EKG around 15min. Going to start tinkering with beersmith. I love brewing :D
