So I have been reading the forums for sometime now and thought I should join in the action.
My name is James I am from Chicago and started brewing after I got a Mr.beer kit for Christmas. Mr.Beer was great! I loved how easy it was and how little time it took to whip up a batch. Only thing I didn't like was the size of the batch I was making... I don't think I could hold on to 21 beer's for that long. it was hard to let them age.
I go to school in Carbondale IL SIUC & am 22 years old. 2 months ago I upgraded to a 5 gallon system. I got a 5 gal plastic fermenting bucket and 2 5 gal carboy's. I also have a 5.25 gal kettle, wort chiller, and propane burner. So fare I have been having fun making 5 gal batches at the same time keeping my Mr.beer fermenters going (I have 2). I don't use anymore Mr.Beer ingredient's I have been making my own recipes.
I enjoy making my own recipes. I like Stouts, IPA's, APA's, Belgians, wheat beer's. I mostly like ales over lagers but I still need to make my own before I can judge. My favorite brewery is Three Floyds.
Goals with brewing: I would like to start all grain brewing and kegging beer. Only thing holding me back is $$$$ I need a new job... I could really use some tips on these goals.
The all time goal is to open my won brewery. I would like to be a brew master in a small town brewery. I would like to get a job working for a brew master and apprentice him. I am also considering going to brewing school in Chicago.
Nice to meet you all !!! Happy brewing!!!
