Greetings everyone,

We're a group of three that has been homebrewing as a duo for about a year and a half, and just added a third about a month ago. We're in western Washington, South Puget Sound area in a "wonderful" section of Tacoma called Hilltop. Needless to say we've seen some interesting sights in our time brewing. We mostly do extract recipes, I'm just a fuddy duddy for solid fundamentals. The upgrade to all grain is bubbling away as we speak, just got to put the cash together and do a little more research. Every Sunday is brew day, this weeks project is a big bad Belgian Trippel style beer that we've had a lot of success with and are started to change around the recipe. Actually cracking open some year and a half old Retract (my turtle-centered name for what was once a La Fin Du Monde clone) that was one of our first batches. Hope it still tastes good. Anyway, look forward to upgrading the ol' gray matter with everyones help, thanks in advance

Oh yeah, one more thing, all you Washington people sing out (even Cougar Fans) :rockin:

Go Huskies! Former University Place, and North 8th and Alder resident here. Hilltop was just a stone's throw away from our N. 8th house just of UPS campus on the south side. Hilltop used to be a great Scandinavian neighborhood. So Ya sure, Ya Betcha! That neighborhood got real fun in the 90's with the crips and the bloods. I knew how to find my car's powerlock button back then.

Turtle - new to the forum too. I'm a Spokane boy now located in the DC area and have been brewing off and on since '89 - damn I'm old!! Unlike yourself and SVL, I'm a HUGE Zags fan.

As much as I do make fun of the Cougs (and I will, repeatedly) I love the rivalry between the two schools and have to admit that their fans are a great buch of people and do throw one heck of a tailgate party. Wish I could go the Apple Cup this year. But I'm a Low-Volt Technician and the company I work for got the stadium renovation contract, so I get to work in the Holy Land for a year. And if I really wanted to keep Cougars out of this thread I'd just put up a goalpost...:D.

Good luck to you guys in Cali, don't have much hope for todays game against Oregon

Yeah, we have seen an interesting assortment of people in the neighborhood when we're outside taking a break and enjoying some homebrews. Ours isn't the only product being made in that area. I can't wait till we can move operations to my neck of the woods (Olalla). So much quieter. And fewer bangers out that way. Scandahoovian myself, smell the lutefisk baby!

I lived at Horsehead Bay during early adulthood also. Not far from Olalla of course! Do you hang at Seven Seas at all? Just found that place on a visit back home from here in Idaho. Cheers!

Good to see some folks from The Big Empty brewing. Just helped a buddy move out to Eastern, beautifal country out that way. DC area must be a big change in scenery. Your're never to old as long as you're still brewing :mug: Never really watched the Zags, but from everything I've heard I'm amazed that a school that size is able to compete like they do.

Nothing wrong with the Zag Bulldogs! My younger brother went there, and poured beers (and cracked PBRs before they were trendy) and Jack and Dan's.

Horsehead Bay's a great area, I have an uncle that lives out that way. I wish I still lived on the water, my family had three connected properties totalling about 300 ft of waterfront at the mouth of Wollochet Bay. Talk about fun growing up. I've been to Seven Seas, went to school with Mike Runion (co-owner). Glad to see that Gig Harbors on the Brew Map and always inspired by local boys succeding. Hope that one day we can have a tap at a local restaurant. Heck, maybe even make a living at this. We'll see. Have a great day

I know, why did PBR get so hip? I too drank it before it was popular, and now if I order at a bar I'm mistaken for a hipster . I actually like the beer, not trying to be ironic.

E9 territory. I hope it comes back and gets it's brews back up to snuff. My brother's buddy, and fellow Bellarmine Alum bought it, and he has a pretty good touch. I have enjoyed the Parkway when I have visited. Gonna be back there this Thanksgiving and hope to hit it.
