Hello Everyone,

I go by Ickythekid. I've been an extract homebrewer for probably about 8 years now and just this past month got the extra $ to make the jump into all grain brewing. My first batch was an IPA made with Cascade hops I grew in my garden (first year, pretty excited), and a Pilsner.

I'm also extremely interested in brewing hard cider, and living in Michigan there's plenty of right off the press cider available to me. I just racked my first 4 gallon batch of hard cider and man did it taste bad. I'm really hoping that I can let it sit for 5-6mos and have the taste improve like I've read in your forum here.

Welcome, Kid! Congrats on your recent all-grain batches and using your homegrown Cascades. I've got four bags of first-year Cascades in my freezer and am looking forward to using them as dry hops on my next brew, an American Pale Ale.

HBT has a cider subforum, if you've not found it yet. Also, I think a very good online resource for new cider makers is www.makinghardcider.com You might read through it and see if it gives you any ideas.
