Hey Guys. Just signed up last week, looking forward to talking with you all. Been a fan of craft beer for many years and just this weekend, jumped in and made my first batch. We'll see how it goes, wish me luck!
:mug:

Good luck on the first batch. What did ya make? There's tons of info here and plenty of great people to answer any questions. The most important thing is patience.
Welcome aboard.

Welcome! You're not too far from me, you might want to check out one of the homebrew clubs in the area. I'm a member of BABBLE (http://www.babblehomebrewers.com/) and our next meeting is this Thursday at 7 at Growmasters in Gurnee.

Yeah! You're not far at all! We make routine visits to Only Child Brewing out there. Love their sours that they do there. My wife and I actually had one of their sours on tap for our wedding in Rockford. I'll look up the brew club and check it out, thanks!

Nokie, in answer to your question, I did Norther Brewer's Grapefruit Pulpin IPA. The boil went well, the ice bath was slow but did the trick, and the OG reading was 1.065, right where it should be. Looking forward to finishing this one and trying it.

Thanks TallDan. You aren't that far! My wife and I make regular trips out to Only Child Brewing out in Gurnee. One of our favorites, we love the sours that they put out. We actually had one of their sours on tap for our wedding last November in Rockford. I'll definitely check out that homebrew club.

Nokie, I did Norther Brewer's Grapefruit Pulpin IPA. Everything went well in the first steps and the OG reading came out to 1.065, right where it should be! Now for the waiting game. Patience is NOT a virtue of mine, haha.
