Going to start my first all grain batch on Sunday. Found a nice dark mild recipe that looks to be an awsome and simple brew.
Heading out to Home Depot tomorrow or Wednesday to source out parts for making a mash tun out of a prexisting cooler and then getting prices on making one into a fermenter cooler by using a large igloo cooler with styrofoam formed to seal in place of the lid. Brewing would be so much easier if we had Basements down here.
Any preference on burners? I have seen a jet burner for sale at Sam's Club for $38 dollars with regulator, I've read good things about Bayou burners but I haven't been able to find any available local and I don't want to wait 2 weeks for something I want to do this coming weekend.
Oh yeah last thought for cooling the wort. Lets say I don't build an immersion cooler just yet and place the brew pot on the top step of my pool (water is about 60), will that cool effective or should I ice bath it?
